2010/7/8
The meeting was called to order by John Starr, president. There were present also John Klear, Halász Sándor, GM Abby Youngs, David Finet by telephone, and Sam Rodriguez, who lately bought a share and is willing to serve on the board.
Abby Youngs reports
-
The two-year lease is signed.
-
To take over the Rite-Aid, the former Pharm, at Monroe & Sylvania, would be pleasant, but yet beyond the coöp.
-
She has finished the NCGA s Retail Basics 1, 2, and 3, paid for by the coöp.
There is also training from Rising Stars, $1000, in Canada in Oct-Nov, the coöp to pay if so.
DF says that it is better later to do Rising Star, there are 3-4/year, also in Milwaukee; it varies when.
Shawn Stein, too, attended the CCMA course, David Finet s coöp paid for the room.
In Minnesota AY and Leah Foley attended courses for purchasers of wellness (LF) and groceries (AY).
-
The small-bulk containers will be decomposing, of cornstarch. (HS warns that is not for them, for his wife is allergic to it.) The nut-butter and bulk rack will be changed, not well shown. The containers are of #5 [polypropylene]. The NCGA works on containers.
-
There is a new cashier, Richard.
-
For the July-17th party there is no music, no player, but AY awaits food tent (hummus, pita, tempe), clown, hula-hoop classes by her.
-
She hoped for a new sign by the 17th, but has not heard from the sign-painter.
-
Lately with all the training she has delegated much, more than usual. Her laptop computer and motorcar have broken down.
-
As for the logo and name-change, DF demands plan and firm time line, and answer whether the details are for the board, the GM, or the ownership.
-
AY says that one Kelly Smith offered help, better knows than we; she has been through this. The logo is to be the old one, wheat stalks, with the new name. The new name is on Facebook, the check-book, and receipts.
-
Kelly Smith passed on to AY much material, has been in e-mail contact about "her intense re-branding".
-
DF says a partner is needed, and in motion demands of AY a copy of all Kelly Smith s materials to the board, and a proposal from AY. JS seconds, JK and HS agree.
-
JS says a finance and a marketing committee are needed, and a membership committee.
-
JS asks about the newsletter. AY says DF has pictures for it. The newsletter is to speak of all from the name-change to the container-article.
-
[SR press release] It is too late for a press release to the City Paper (Leah is in charge of press releases.)
-
The freezer failed. On monday the fifth the temperature was 40°F. The pizza was okay, the ice cream and novelties suffered (to be sold at 50% off), the meat in between. After that, at double time for the holiday, was repaired the compressor overheated, it was 50°F in the freezer. More repairs at no further charge; $30 worth of food was lost.
The Robert-Jackson debt: will the heirs accept $20,000 for it, paid through a loan from other coöps in our chapter, Great Lakes--good to ask Helen Elden? DF speaks of the North-Country Lending Fund; JS craves details. JS craves to lessen the loan in case of moving, for surely a new loan will be needed. JS and JK say to not mention any amount for paying off the loan, lest Jackson s heirs be willind to take less or put off that it is not more.
It is good to mention the S.... Club, an interest of Robert Jackson s.
HS asks what to do on death, or any other removal of an owner-member.
The coming meeting is to be on August 17th, at the West-Toledo branch.
